Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival Unveils Exciting Events Lineup for 2024 Season

Cedar Rapids, IA – March 29, 2024 – The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival is thrilled to announce its full season lineup of events for 2024, promising an array of activities that celebrate community, patriotism, and freedom. From family-friendly entertainment to cultural showcases, this year’s festival promises something for everyone.

The 2024 Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival begins on June 8th and offers programming through July 4th. Perhaps most notable is the much-anticipated return of The Cardboard Boat Regatta on June 8th at Robbins Lake. Some other highlights include the Tribute to Heroes at The Veterans Memorial Building on June 14th, which will honor community members who have made a difference within the community, a resonant performance by The Army Band in Lowe Park in Marion on Father’s day, June 16th, and the fan-favorite Freedom Bike Ride on June 23rd, which will embark and conclude at city park in Ely. Attendees can also mark their calendars for the triumphant return of DockDogs, making waves the weekend of June 28th, as well as the Grand Parade, which will march through Cedar Rapids on June 29th.

In addition, there will be an exciting expansion to The Balloon Glow festivities on June 22nd, which will return to the picturesque Jones Park. This year’s festivities will kick off at noon with the return of the beloved Bohemian Betty sale, which will be open until 9pm. Eastern Iowa Arts Academy is also partnering with the Freedom Festival, bringing the Volta Youth Music and Arts Festival to The Balloon Glow Stage at 1pm. Finally, the hit regional band Birdchild will headline the Balloon Glow with a thrilling performance in the evening.

Finally, the traditional Celebration of Freedom activities, including the thrilling fireworks display and a live concert from Alisabeth Von Presley at the McGrath Amphitheater, will take place on the 4th of July, marking the perfect end to our summer festival.
