Button Design Contest is OPEN!
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, December 1, 2024 — The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival proudly announces the return of a celebrated community tradition: The 2025 Freedom Festival Button Design Contest. Local artists are invited to submit their artwork to decide the look and feel of their community’s 2025 Freedom Festival. This year the public has the opportunity to choose the 2025 Freedom Festival theme when submitting the button design. The festival asks that the artists design and theme resemble the nostalgia of the Freedom Festival, what things make you think of the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival? The only guidelines - Artists must incorporate Hy-Vee's logo, and the festival dates (June 26th – July 4th), and the words “Freedom Festival”.
Community members may submit their designs for consideration to be featured on the official Freedom Festival attendee button in 2025 as well as the overall festival artwork. Those wishing to submit for consideration should read the submission requirements on the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival website and then send their designs via email to info@freedomfestival.com prior to the deadline on January 10th.
The winning design will be announced on January 20th , with the winning designer receiving artwork recognition, a “VIP Experience” to select Freedom Festival events, honored as a Grand Marshall in the 2025 Freedom Festival Parade, and a Freedom Festival prize pack of buttons and t-shirts.
We’re putting a new spin on the Button Design Contest for the 2025 Freedom Festival,” said Brittany Barnhart, Executive Director. “This contest is a unique way for the community to connect with the festival and make their mark. The Freedom Festival is a celebration of Cedar Rapids, and it all starts with the creativity and talent of our local artists.
The dates for the 2025 Festival are June 26th through July 4th, 2024. All entries become property of the Freedom Festival and artwork may be manipulated for printing.
