Michael “Sgt” Valley was born in Cedar Rapids, IA on March 25, 1977. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1997. Shortly after graduating from High School, he enlisted in the Navy. He served in the Navy for 9 years as a Corpman. His duty stations included Great Lakes, IL, San Diego , CA, Jacksonville, FL and Okinawa, Japan. After a brief period as a civilian, he enlisted in the Army where he served as a Military Policeman and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. He served a tour of Duty in Iraq and was stationed at Ft. Knox, Ft Bliss, and Ft Drum. He served approx. 8 years until he retired for medical reasons. After he retired from the Army he worked for the Florida Dept of Public Health. He was always helping those less fortunate then himself. He took great pride in helping his kids engage in many sports and school activities. On Sept 29, 2021, Michael passed away. Michael is survived by his son, Michael Jr and daughter Abigail of Jacksonville, FL. His parents are Steve and Barbara Valley of Cedar Rapids, IA. He was buried next to his maternal Grandparents John and Garnetta Luethye, Mound Cemetery, Watkins, IA.
