BALLOON GLOW IS CANCELED
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival—Balloon Glow Canceled
Cedar Rapids, IA (6/21/24): The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival, presented by Hy-Vee, is sorry to announce that out of an abundance of caution, due to the possibility of strong to severe storms on Saturday, Balloon Glow is canceled for 2024.
The primary concern leading to this decision is the unpredictable weather conditions forecasted. After consulting with meteorologists and local authorities, it has become clear that the weather poses a significant risk to the safety of both the balloon operators, vendors, volunteers, and the public.
“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors, volunteers, and participants for their hard work and dedication in preparing for this event,” says Executive Director, Karol Shepherd. “While we are unable to reschedule the Balloon Glow event this year, we are committed to bringing you other exciting and safe events over the next couple weeks. We appreciate your understanding and support during this time.”
The Eastern Iowa Arts Academy will be moving the VOLTA Music Festival portion of Balloon Glow to the Ideal Theatre, located at 213 16th Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, beginning at 12:00 PM.
