The Freedom Festival Opens Nominations for the Annual Tribute to Heroes Event.
[Cedar Rapids, Iowa, March 13, 2024] – The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival is proud to announce that nominations for the Tribute to Heroes are officially open. This esteemed program aims to recognize and honor individual who have demonstrated exceptional bravery, selflessness, and dedication to serving their community.
The Tribute to Heroes initiative holds a special place in the hearts of Cedar Rapids and surrounding area residents, as it provides an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable contributions of local heroes who have made a positive impact on the lives of others. From courageous first responders to compassionate volunteers, these individuals embody the spirit of unity and resilience that defines the community.
“We are thrilled to launch the Tribute to Heroes nomination for this year’s Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival,” said Marnie Schultz, Events and Marketing Director of the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival. “This program allows us to shine a spotlight on the everyday heroes who go above and beyond to make a difference in our community. Their stories inspire us all and remind us of the power of compassion and service.”
Nominations for the Tribute to Heroes are open to the public and can be submitted online through the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival website. Members of the community are encouraged to nominate individuals who have demonstrated acts of bravery, kindness, leadership, or service that have positively impacted the metro area.
The deadline for the submissions is April 12th, 2024. Three individuals that embody what it means to be a hero will be chosen by Freedom Festival and its Board of Directors. Then the individuals will be recognized and celebrated at the Tribute to Heroes event on Friday June 14th at the Veterans Memorial Building. The Heroes will also be recognized as Parade Marshals in our parade on June 29th.
