NAVY
1970-1976

John enlisted in the Navy in 1970. After boot camp he spent a year in electrical school for training as an electronics technician. After training John spent 4 years on the submarine SS Haddo.  This submarine traveled in the Mediterranean Sea and Caribbean Sea.  He fondly recalls going through the Panama Canal to San Francisco. While serving in the Navy he was stationed in California, Mississippi, and Connecticut. John was honorably discharged, at a rank of E5, from the Navy in 1976 and took his family back to Mississippi, for a short time before relocating to Cedar Rapids, IA, where John utilized his training from the Navy for his employment at Rockwell Collins until retirement.
