Elmer Vogel

Elmer J. Vogel was born 9/9/33 in Clinton, IA to Jacob and Ann Vogel. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956 aboard the U.S.S. Hamner, a destroyer ship. After the service Elmer was employed as a car man by the former Chicago and Northwestern Railroad where he worked for 44 years. He was a member of Second Reformed Church and also the American Legion Post #402 in Fulton, IL, where he lived and raised his family. He served as President of the Fulton Recreation Association and was a Little League coach for his boys. He was an avid sports fan who followed the Illini, Bears and Cubs. Elmer passed away in 2014 at the age of 80, so he did not get to see his beloved Cubs win the World Series.
